
Sunday saw the opening of the upgraded skate park at Cherrybrook.

Officiated by Hornsby Deputy Mayor, Gurdeep Singh the event was attended by by Australian skating legend Renton Millar, who was the World Cup Vert Champion in 2009 and the Australian Bowl Riding Champion in 2012. In fact Renton organised the event and brought along Lachie Bouillir, Ben Key, Ryder Lawson and Nathan Taylor for some skating demonstrations.
In his opening speech, Mr Singh said that the upgrade to the skate park was part of the greater “Active Living Hornsby Strategy” (ALHS) from the shire council which provides and manages a wide range of open space and recreation facilities within the Hornsby Shire.
Features of the upgraded skate park include a deep bowl, taco extension with granite coping, mogul roll-over, vanishing quarter-pipe with refurbished handrail, corner pocket, flatbank hip, down/up rail, banked level change, manual pad and kicker to kicker over mogul.
For those who haven’t visited the skate park previously, it is in Greenway Park on Shepherds Drive in Cherrybrook.
