Dogs Day Out Success

The Dogs Day Out, an annual event sponsored by Kuringai Council, was held at the St Ives Showgrounds on Sunday March 30th. Drawing a large crowd of dog lovers and their pets, it was a great success. There were lots of stalls, from the usual food stalls through to interactive and fun pet stores. I was interested to see the number of dog bed, dog treats and dog/pet photography stalls and the huge response they were getting from the visitors to the show.

Hosted by Kaye Brown and Brian Pickering of Pet Talk People the event was a lot of fun for the whole family. Kaye is a regular on Radio 2GB as the Pet ‘n’ Lifestyle Guru on the Chris Smith Afternoon Show and Brian is a long-time AM/FM commercial radio producer/copywriter and announcer.

One of the key events was a doggie talent show where pet owners could demonstrate the tricks that their furry friends had learned.

Prizes for the talent show were awarded by Emmalee Fowler, Companion Animal Management Officer  for Kuringai Council who was nursing her own puppy for the day.

The newly named St Ives Green Cross Vets which is on the site of the old Turramurra Vet Hospital as well St Ives Vet Surgery among others were all in attendance, ready to answer any questions about dogs and veterinary health. Green Cross Vets held a live discussion with Kaye Brown in the main arena regarding pet health and veterinary management of your animal.

Held beside the Northern Suburbs Dog Training Club within the showgrounds, members of the dog club were on hand to encourage new pet owners to join their club and experience the enjoyment of a well trained dog.
