Emerging artist exhibition Hornsby

Eliza Kinchington holds her first solo exhibition

Take the opportunity to see works from a rising talent in the art world when Eliza Kinchington holds her first solo exhibition.

Eliza’s exhibition includes an eclectic combination of drawing, fine art photography, mixed media and self-portraits.

The 24-year-old artist, who graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Sydney, said she is often inspired by the natural world when creating art.

“A lot of the time it’s just being out and about and creating works in response to an environment,” she said.

“I like to go out and find really cool landscapes… with the mixed media works, I try to base them on Australian things like fauna and flora.”

Eliza, who grew up in Cherrybrook, won the Hornsby Emerging Artist Award in the 2013 Hornsby Art Prize.

As part of her prize, she was given the chance to showcase her work in a two week exhibition at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.

The exhibition, which has taken about a year to put together, is called ‘Introducing… Eliza Kinchington: An exhibition of works by the 2013 Hornsby Shire Emerging Artist’.

It was created with the help of staff at Wallarobba and features art from Eliza’s earlier portfolio along with more recent works.
