Excellent scores on doors

Great results show food businesses are serious

Rita and Tony Galluzzo receive their certificate from Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell.

Hornsby Shire Council has issued the first round of Scores on Doors certificates, with three local businesses achieving a result of “excellent”.

Galluzo’s Fine Foods in Epping, Chalio’s Thai in Beecroft and Tong Tong Rong Thai in Pennant Hills all received the highest endorsement.

“This is a great result that shows how fortunate we are to have local food businesses that take their obligation to the community seriously,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.

“It also gives them further encouragement to keep up the good work.”

The Scores on Doors lets local food businesses demonstrate their hygiene credentials by giving them a certificate showing the result of their latest surprise Council inspection.

Those that pass the inspection are given a rating of “good”, “very good” or “excellent”.

“Those that don’t pass the inspection have far bigger concerns than what is placed on a certificate,” Mayor Russell said.

Tony Galluzzo from Galluzzo’s Fine Foods said his customers have noticed the “excellent” rating.

“They’re very pleased about it and they reckon it’s great,” Tony said.

“It feels great for us as well, it keeps us on our toes and brings out the best.”
