Festival on the Green

The St Ives Festival on the Green celebrated its tenth birthday on Sunday with superb weather and a great out had by all. With appearances by Peppa Pig as well as by Ashton’s Family circus there was something for the whole family.

StIvesFareHuxThere were the usual series of stalls that you would expect at an event like this, except that there was a double row of them, circling the village green. Food, community information, art & craft as well as health & fitness were the backdrop against which people such as Jay Huxley, ex Master Chef and proprietor of Hux Dining in Roseville, entertained the crowd with live cooking demonstrations.

On the main stage there was a continuous flow of local talent from local dance groups, school concert bands and even a karate demonstration. On the choir stage (yes, this event had two stages as it has become so big) we were treated to a mix of school choirs as well as several local ensembles.

This was a great event and drew a large crowd from across the community. Well worth the visit.
