Keep an eye on Hornsby Park over the coming financial year, as Hornsby Shire Council plans to give it a significant upgrade.
The proposed works, which are expected to be carried out in stages throughout 2015-16, include new play equipment, waterplay, interpretive signage, landscaping and furniture enhancements.
“The park is the centrepiece of Hornsby’s west side and these works are an important step in Council’s efforts to revitalise that part of town,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.
As part of the upgrade climb and slide pieces will be added to the play area, tall swings will be installed in the park and the existing toddler play area will be rejuvenated.
It is also proposed to replace the existing fountain with a play fountain that includes water spouts, which will be especially good for young residents on hot days.
Other residents will be similarly pleased with the planned upgrade to the picnic area, as well as improvements to the landscaping and park furniture. “This is one of the Shire’s most special parks, particularly since the opening of the new Hornsby Aquatic Centre, and Council is determined to lift it to its full potential,” Mayor Russell said.
“A lot of thought has gone into this to make sure there is something for everybody.”
