Both Berowra and North Sydney entered this match with a win and a loss to their names. Tonight’s match was on Berowra’s home ground and under lights, with a decent sized partisan crowd backing the local boys.
Berowra got first blood off a wayward clearance from North Sydney which found the feet of James Fiedler who passed it out to Jake Harris who pushed it low and right of the goalie.
30 mins later and James Burrell had a great shot on goal. Again set up by Fiedler, but Burrell sprayed it just wide of its mark.
During the rest of the first half, North Sydney had several chances, making Liam Burrell work hard in goal, but nothing got past him.
1:0 at half time.
The second half started with North Sydney peppering the Berowra goal taking Burrell to full stretch several times.
North Sydney were pressing hard but upfront, Mario Lara couldn’t beat the offside trap and kept on getting pinged by the referee.
And then Matt Fisher was brought down in the Berowra 18 yard box. Lara took the penalty and put it to the left as the goalie went right.
1:1 with ten minutes to play.
This lit a fire under both teams and the last ten minutes produced some fast, hard, in-your-face football.
Berowra had the upper hand early on, but rested on a 1:0 lead for too long. They had the skill and energy to win this one, but let North Sydney back in with a careless penalty.
