Northern Tigers vs Hakoah Sydney City East

Preseason Football in the rain

Friday evening saw the Northern Tigers take on Hakoah Sydney City East in the Football NSW Men’s 2 Preseason Cup at Charles Bean Oval in Lindfield.

Hakoah have been doing it tough in the preseason competition going down to both Spirit FC as well as Central Coast FC. Whereas the Tigers had drawn to Fraser Park FC and beat Sydney University SFC on the same ground last week.

Charles Bean Oval was warm and humid and had steady rain throughout the match. The surface caused quite a bit of trouble for several players, with them losing their footing on the rubberised surface which became quite slippery with the rain.

The Tigers played well, particularly through the midfield setting up some good opportunities for their strikers. To my eye, the men upfront were having a bit of preseason difficulty coordinating and several chances went begging.

However, they managed to put one past the Hakoah goalie in the first half which the Hakoah boys responded to with a goal of their own, but the Tigers managed two more unanswered goals in the second half including a superb header sealing the match 3:1

Overall, a good match in the rain.
