We have passed the half way point of the Premier League football season and where do the teams stand?

What has their recent form been like and where might they end up at the end of the season? My predictions are based on recent form and whether the match will be home or away. I feel pretty confident that many people will have a different take on the final result. Let’s wait and see…

Willoughby Dalleys

(W-L-W-W-W)

Willoughby Dalleys are the team to beat. They are top of the division with only two losses all year, their second match of the season away to Lane Cove and last week to North Sydney. They have won all their matches at home this season. The second half of the season sees them play three away and four home matches, with their away match to Kissing Point (4^th on ladder) looking like their only real test. Sitting nine points clear of their nearest rival with seven matches to play…

Prediction for the rest of the season: (D-W-W-W-W-W-W) Yes, I think they’re pretty much unstoppable this season.

North Sydney United

(W-W-L-W-W)

After a slow start, North Sydney has been firing well this season. Their form in the last five matches has been solid with their only recent loss being to bottom of the table Knox United. With 18 points they are top of a huddle of four teams which are fighting for that second spot. Based on current form, Chatswood Rangers away and Lindfield away will be their toughest matches for the remainder of the season.

Prediction for the rest of the season: (W-W-D-W-L-W-W) which means they will cement their second place.

Lindfield

(D-W-L-L-W)

Lindfield’s current form has been mixed slipping after a solid start to the season. The remainder of the season sees Lindfield away to Lane Cove, Willoughby Dalleys, West Pymble and Berowra. Last time Lindfield met Lane Cove they won 5:3, but the rest of the matches should be pretty tough; Willoughby Dalleys beat them 4:1, Berowra beat them 4:0 but they did win convincingly against West Pymble 6:1. They also have three home games against Knox United, North Sydney and Mt Colah. Based on form this season, North Sydney should be the only team to offer any real trouble at home.

Kissing Point

(W-W-L-L-W)

Kissing Point has started slowly this season and has been building steadily. Currently sitting in fourth spot, they are only two points behind North Sydney and are one spot ahead of Chatswood Rangers on goal difference. They have some solid matches to play for the remainder of the season. They play West Pymble at home, which they should win but then they play North Sydney United (away), Berowra (home), Mt Colah (away), Willoughby Dalleys (home), Chatswood Rangers (home) and finally Lane Cove (away) so they have a tough second half to their season.

Chatswood Rangers

(D-L-W-D-W)

Chatswood Rangers have managed to draw a staggering four of their last ten matches. Having watched them play recently, they are a good chance to finish in the top three this season. Their next seven matches will be a mix for them with three of the last four matches being a real test; Berowra (away), Kissing Point (away) and Willoughby Dalleys (away).

Berowra

(L-W-W-W-D)

Berowra have had good recent form beating Lindfield, Knox and West Pymble before narrowly losing to North Sydney. Next week sees them at home to Willoughby but then they have a series of mid-table games before their final match away to Knox.

Mt Colah

(L-W-L-L-D)

Mt Colah has not had a great season so far, only winning three out of their last eleven matches. They have held Chatswood and Berowra to draws, but both of these matches were at home. In the final seven matches, they face these teams away and also have to contend with North Sydney (home), Willoughby Dalleys (home), Kissing Point (home) and Lindfield (away). The next seven games are going to be a trial for Mt Colah.

West Pymble

(W-L-L-W-L)

This year has been tough for West Pymble. They have won four of their ten matches which gives them a better win record than Mt Colah, but Mt Colah have also drawn three matches where West Pymble has lost six matches putting them third from the bottom. Their remaining games put them up against higher teams in the ladder or they are away to Lane Cove and Knox who are below them. So they have it all to do and the remaining matches are going to be tough.

Lane Cove

(L-L-W-D-L)

Two wins and three draws means that Lane Cove have only lost half of their matches, but that is enough to put them second from bottom on the table. With only Knox below them, all of their remaining matches this season will be hard but as they are one of the few teams to beat Willoughby Dalleys this season, who knows what will happen?

Knox United

(L-L-L-W-L)

One win and three draws this season put Knox last on the table with six points. Having watched Knox play twice this season, I am surprised by the ladder. They are going to have a tough run to the end away to Chatswood, Lindfield Willoughby and North Sydney. Home games to Lane Cove, West Pymble and Berowra might give them a chance to hit double figures for league points.
