Allandale Semillon 2014

CC is a wine lover that lives just north of the Hunter Valley. He has reviewed wines for several publications in the past, today we have asked him to select a classic Hunter Semillon wine.

I was joined by Toes Over (TO), Jocky strap (JS) and Travelling Muso(TM) to taste the 2014 Allandale Semillon. TM was just back from the Margaret River supporting Gurrumul.

The 2014 Allandale Semillon has been recognised by NSW Wines to be one of the best Semillons of 2014.

Talking Heads echoed in the background with Salmon on the menu. Lightly spiced Asian food would also suffice.

TO (suffering from anosmia) missed out on the subtle limey nose but enjoyed the citrus taste. Grapes were sourced from 3 lower hunter vineyards including a 90+ y.o. Heritage listed Pokolbin vineyard.

This is a quintessential Hunter Semillon that can be enjoyed now or allow it to mellow over the next 10 + years

Well worth a look at! Enjoy with friends over summer.

This wine is only sold through the Allandale Cellar Door at this stage.

Expect to pay $19 per bottle or a little under $185 per dozen.
