Rain Easing After Chaos

Showers likely for another week

When is it going to stop raining? In the last 24 hours, there has been 93mm of rain at Terry Hills, 92mm at St Ives and 100mm at Turramurra. This has been the heaviest rainfall in the area for over a year and a half and has created havoc around the region.

NSW SES Sydney Northern Region have had to respond to over 180 requests for assistance and are urging residents to make sure their properties are ready for continuing rain by cleaning leaves from gutters and making sure drains are clear. For advice and tips go to their StormSafe website.

NSW Fire and Rescue have also assisted with calls to emergencies in St Ives.

The Bureau of Meteorology has said that it expects there to be continuing showers for the rest of the week and well in to next week, although they are likely to be less severe.
