Round 1 Analysis – Premier League

Who did well, who's got some work to do at training?

So, what’s the wash-up after round 1 of the Premier League Football? Here’s our round 1 analysis

There’s not much point in looking at the league table yet. Rangers are top on goal difference with their thumping win over BOBs. It’s the next couple of rounds which will show which teams have been working hard over summer and which teams need to do some work on the training ground.

We have already written about the BOBs/Rangers match as well as the Lane Cove/Berowra match.

Chatting with one of the opposition coaches, I’m told that Kissing Point are one of the teams to watch. And that means Lindfield are also a go-to team having beaten Kisso 2:1 away from home.

There were fears that Lindfield would suffer with their new line-up, but new boys Jason Lal and Michael Vacumba both managed to get on the score sheet in round one. Well done lads.

West Pymble welcomed Maccabi Northside back to the Premier League after a couple of years in Div 2, with a 1:0 score. West Pymble did it tough last year, just staying out of the drop zone. Hoping for big things this year for the boys in Yellow.

2014 League Champions Willoughby Dalleys hammered North Sydney United 4:1 at home in the opening round. North Sydney are a strong side and I don’t think one loss to Dalleys is going to cause them any harm.

Next week

Maccabi Northside are at home to North Sydney. I think this will be a win to North Sydney, but the new boys have a lot to prove and could be quite a handful.

Berowra are at home to Kissing Point. This will be a good, hard match. Berowra are a strong side who play an in-your-face type of game (which I like) and Kissing Point have been anointed with the praise of other coaches. Should be a good game.

BOBs play host to Willoughby Dalleys. Unless some magic happens during training this week, I suspect this will be another tough contest for BOBs. If Dalleys play the open two-touch passing game they know they can play, this should be a walk in the park for them.

Chatswood Rangers host Lane Cove at Castle Cove. This will be a good solid match. Lane Cove will have a chance to calm down and play a more free-flowing game compared to their match against Berowra this week and Rangers are coming off a 6:0 high. Either side could win this one. I think Rangers will edge this one as they are on home turf.

Lindfield host West Pymble under lights on Charles Bean. I am looking forward to this match and seeing what is what with the new Lindfield line-up. West Pymble have done well on Charles Bean last year so it should be a good match in the early evening.

Here are my predictions.
