Hornsby Shire Council has completed an upgrade of Brooklyn Park’s playground and furnishings.
“This is a popular park that gets a lot of use and deserved to be next in line for an upgrade,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.
“It’s been open for more than a week and the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The upgrade has included a new toddler train, two-way rocker, spinner, climbing piece with bar slide, swing set including toddler seats and a nest swing.
Old tables and barbecues have also been replaced and restored, while a new fence defines the play area.
A basketball hoop has been added to the tennis courts and new paths improve accessibility to existing facilities, including the boardwalk and skate park.
Informal stone seating has been installed in shaded locations, new turf has been laid down and native vegetation has been planted.
“There’s something here for everybody and we hope the community continues to make good use of the park,” Mayor Russell said.
“Special mention should go to the Brooklyn Public School P&C, which provided valuable feedback on the design during the public consultation.”
